Perennial. An excellent fresh addition to salads, cheese spreads, or your favourite brunch omelette, chives have a mild, peppery flavour. The flowers are also edible, and taste best after they have just opened. In the garden, they grow well with other herbs, Brassicas and tomatoes. Plants will not become invasive, and can be easily grown in a mixed herb bed or a small container. Plants prefer moist, fertile, well-draining soil and do not require supplemental feeding.
Harvest: Once blades are at least 6” tall, cut 1-2” from base of plant. Best flavour before flowering begins.
Plant Height: 12”
Plant Spacing: 6”
